Comparing Individual and Collaborative Translation in Google Docs: An Investigation of Thai EFL Undergraduates Translation Skills

Existing research has indicated the benefits of synchronous collaboration through Google Docs in enhancing language skills and productivity among learners. However, there remains a lack knowledge concerning collaborative translation within context English as Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, particularly its impact on quality students’ translations. This study aims to investigate 20 majors, aged between 18 23 years old, enrolled Faculty Arts Humanities at private university Thailand. The investigation compares individual with small-groups, conducted under time constraints, utilizing three distinct tests. Additionally, examines prevalent errors made by individuals small-groups during process. findings reveal significant disparities small- groups across all test variations employed. Notably, results suggest that engaging work leads higher accuracy when compared efforts. Regarding identified errors, this highlights word choice, mechanics, articles, prepositions, ellipses most frequently occurring mistakes both small-group briefly discussed implications EFL classrooms.
